Abstract
Bowel perforation is the most feared complication of a peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion. Such perforations are usually small and can heal spontaneously. Both conservative as well as open surgical interventions have been employed to manage bowel perforations. Early diagnosis is critically important in reducing morbidity and mortality. In this chapter, we share clinically relevant guidelines with interventional nephrologists to optimally diagnose and manage patients with bowel perforation encountered during a peritoneal dialysis catheter placement.
