Abstract

With the increasing popularity of performing ureteral reconstructions with robotic-assisted laparoscopy coinciding with the increasing utilization of the Single-Port (SP) robotic system, SP robotic ureteral reconstructions have been shown to be feasible and safe. Although the use of the SP robotic system is still in its infancy, pyeloplasty was one of the first procedures performed and published in literature. Following this ureteropelvic junction obstruction repair, other types of ureteral strictures were then addressed using the SP robotic system. The principles of ureteral reconstruction remain the same regardless of open, laparoscopic, multiport robotic, or SP robotic surgery, and the keys to success include preservation of ureteral adventitial blood supply, mucosa-to-mucosa apposition, and tension-free anastomosis. In this chapter, the authors discuss the current state of SP robotic ureteral reconstruction.
